I believe that theatre is a collaborative art form that has the power to communicate, connect, and inspire change.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

As an emerging artist and educator, my primary teaching philosophy is to create an inclusive environment that promotes community and full exploration of each student’s creative power. I am committed to fostering a classroom that develops the next generation’s artistic leaders, creative minds, practitioners, and agents of change. A classroom that celebrates everyone’s individuality as a person and an artist. I am devoted to extending and receiving invitations that encourage my students to immerse the fullness of their identity with the art they will be exploring and creating. I believe that leads to artistic freedom and self-discovery.

My theatrical teaching approach is centered around the idea of how I can best serve my students so they can develop their unique artistic voices. I am equipped with a variety of acting techniques, and I incorporate both European and non-European-centered methods in my classes. Many of them are embodied practices that inquire full voice and body activation of the actor (SoulWork) and others have a more traditional acting approach (Stanislavski-based methods). My goal is to equip students with various tools so they can develop their own artistic practice, cultivate their imaginations and be able to confidently take on any artistic challenge they encounter. I aim to generate discussions that expand the student’s knowledge in the field and contribute to their artistic development and creative thinking. I celebrate risk-taking and encourage them to question, explore and challenge their own creative boundaries.

My mission is to provide high-impact mentoring by offering support, guidance, advice, and resources that serve each student’s unique academic journey and personal experiences. I am committed to the diversity, equity, and inclusivity principles in the art world and my classroom. I strive to create a safe space where all students feel valued, respected and included. I also strive to provide opportunities for students to learn about and engage with a diverse range of theatre artists, material, and productions. I work to create a classroom environment that is inclusive, non-judgmental, and accessible to everyone.

I believe that theatre is a collaborative art form and has the power to communicate, connect, and inspire change. I am passionate to keep educating and training myself in the field so I can constantly evolve as a person, teacher, and artist. My ultimate goal is to foster in my students a love of art, creativity, and the celebration of individuality that will inspire the betterment of the art field and the world. I care for my students and want them to achieve success in life and their artistic path that honors their goals and dreams.
